Helping St. Louis Startups Launch Successful Tech Teams

Innovator. Scrappy. Grit. Collaborative. Visionary. Believer. Ambitious. Eager. Motivated.

The exact words we use to describe the startup culture in St. Louis are the same ones we often attribute to our LaunchCoders. There’s no getting around the parallels that mirror the motivation and enthusiasm LaunchCoders and startups have for emerging technology. Another thing St. Louis startups and LaunchCoders have in common: they’re putting St. Louis on the map for a growing tech ecosystem. St. Louis was once thought of as a flyover city that could never compete with the coastal technology hubs. Now, our region is frequently named among the top cities for startup growth. A huge part of fueling that growth is ensuring we have a diverse, homegrown talent pool to support it. That’s where we come in!

As Company Relations Managers at LaunchCode, our job is to essentially be the matchmakers between companies in need of tech talent and LaunchCoders who are eager to jump into the industry.

As Company Relations Managers at LaunchCode, our job is to essentially be the matchmakers between companies in need of tech talent and LaunchCoders who are eager to jump into the industry. In this role, we get the unique opportunity to see both sides of the hiring process. LaunchCode is unique in that not only do we ask the company what kind of job candidate would fit best in the role, but we also ask our candidates what type of company they want to work for. This is so important because we know that when a job candidate is placed in a company with a mission they’re proud of, they’re more likely to stay and grow within that company. We also know that for startups, sourcing talent from alternative pipelines like LaunchCode means tapping into a larger pool of job candidates who are motivated and eager to advance their tech skills and be part of unique work cultures.

Celebrating the first St. Louis StartUp Week means a lot to us because not only do we get to work with so many startup leaders and cheer them on in their adventure, but we also get to see first-hand how startups are changing the fabric of this city. But, just as important as being recognized as a startup hub, we also need to make waves in creating talent pools robust enough to support this growth...and that’s just as celebration-worthy.

The absolute best part of our job is that moment we call the LaunchCoder and tell them the company they interviewed with wants to hire them. But with startups, hearing the excitement of a new hire from the company partner is just as rewarding!
