1. How we Upskilled Comcast’s Frontline Field Technicians into Developers

  • The Challenge: Comcast struggled to find qualified talent to work on their tech teams. At the same time, they had a force of frontline workers and field technicians who knew their product best. They searched for a partner to build upwardly mobile career paths for these frontline workers. 
  • The Solution: 
    • Comcast partnered with LaunchCode to build an upskilling program, primarily as software developers, data analysts, and project managers 
    • We built a recruitment and screening process for frontline staff with talent acquisition team 
    • We partnered with technical teams to design a custom curriculum to meet Comcast team technical needs 
    • We recruited course staff to deliver instruction 
    • We supported onboarding of participants into their new teams 
  • The Outcome: Comcast not only created upward mobility for their employees but also gained a pipeline of skilled tech workers tailored to their specific needs. We’ve launched 5 successful cohorts of Grows to Code since 2020, graduating 86 new technologists with a 100% retention rate post-program. 

2. Community-Based Hiring: Building Local Talent Pools for WWT

If you’re looking to establish or grow an office in a new market, we recruit, train, and build pools of local talent from the community.

  • The Challenge: World Wide Technology (WWT) wanted to hire software developers for a new office in Detroit by sourcing talent locally. They struggled to find qualified talent from Detroit to work in this local office. 
  • The Solution: LaunchCode worked closely with WWT to:
    • Recruit and screen candidates from Detroit to participate in the program.
    • Train a small cohort of candidates, with WWT making hiring decisions upfront.
    • Enroll candidates in LaunchCode’s Software Development course virtually, grouping them as a cohort with a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support their success.
    • Mitigate risk by enrolling additional backup candidates in the program, at no additional cost to WWT.
  • The Outcome: WWT placed six local candidates, five of whom successfully transitioned into full-time employees.

3. Non-Location-Based Hiring: Microsoft’s Cleared Talent Initiative

Need talent with specific credentials, such as security clearances? We can source, recruit, and train candidates nationwide to meet your specialized needs.

  • The Challenge: Microsoft had an immediate need for DevOps candidates with TS/SCI clearances to fulfill roles on government contracts. While they attempted to sponsor clearances for existing candidates with the right tech skills, the process would take up to two years. 
  • The Solution: LaunchCode partnered with Microsoft to:
    • Recruit transitioning veterans with security clearances from across the U.S.
    • Conduct preliminary interviews and pass qualified candidates to Microsoft.
    • Deliver customized training programs, including web development and tailored curriculum.
  • The Outcome: Over two cohorts, Microsoft hired 67 candidates with salaries exceeding $100,000 annually.

4. National Recruiting and Screening: Broadcom’s Mainframe Program

When you have your own internal training program but struggle to find candidates, LaunchCode can recruit and screen talent from across the country to ensure your program’s success.

  • The Challenge: Broadcom needed to address the retirement of their mainframe developers by recruiting candidates eager to learn mainframe technologies.
  • The Solution: LaunchCode identified, vetted, and screened candidates suited for Broadcom’s internal training program, ensuring participants were open to relocation after completion.
  • The Outcome: This program has been repeated six times due to its success, providing Broadcom with a steady pipeline of highly motivated talent.

5. Relocation-Ready Talent: Emerson’s Hybrid Model

If your company needs candidates willing to relocate, we can find and train relocation-ready talent from our national pool.

  • The Challenge: Emerson needed to fill roles for software developers and system administrators in St. Louis and Round Rock, Texas.
  • The Solution: LaunchCode identified candidates from across the U.S. who were willing to relocate, supporting their transition through a remote apprenticeship period before they moved on-site.
  • The Outcome: Out of a cohort of 14 hired, six relocated to Round Rock, and 12 joined Emerson’s team in St. Louis. Over 85% of apprentices transitioned into full-time roles.
